‘Investing is More Than Joy and Passion. It is a Religion’

Two seasoned investment managers, Bharat Shah and Nilesh Shah, expound their philosophy behind managing other people’s money.
What makes an investment manager tick? Businessworld brought together two seasoned investment managers — Bharat Shah and Nilesh Shah — who have been at the helm of action for more than a decade. Bharat managed money as the CIO of Birla Mutual Fund for eight years before making a transition into wealth management in 2002 and Nilesh, with a degree in chartered accountancy, has risen from being a debt fund manager in Franklin Templeton (India) to chief investment officer of Prudential ICICI Asset Management Company. Both have been a part of the mutual fund industry since its privatisation. In a free-wheeling discussion with BW’s Gargi Banerjee and Rachna Monga, the doyens of the industry speak their heart out on the joy, pain and passion of managing other people’s money.
