Investments are often made without any reasoning. What one fails to realise is that it takes a fair amount of luck to make a quick buck. An intelligent investor, should look at a longer time horizon and the safety and returns from each investment.In matters relating to investment, it is not prudent to trust anyone blindly. Verbal assurances should always be taken with a pinch of precaution. Speculation and hearsay have time and again led to the downfall of investors.
Before investing, one should be aware of the risks associated with it. Default risk is the worst, where one neither gets his principal nor the interest back. These cases crop up especially when money is lent without proper documentation. The only recourse is to approach the courts, but the tardy process of litigation in the country and the final result might make you wonder whether it was you or your lawyer who benefited the most.
